PRP and Prolo (Proliferation) therapies have become well known and popular therapies in recent years because it has offered patients a promising alternative to surgery, hair transplants, or other invasive treatments. PRP/Prolotherapy gives the body the ability to heal itself via plasma and nutrients from your own blood that is drawn in office, then spun down to obtain the growth factors and various cytokines. Men and women throughout the globe are using PRP/Prolo and other regenerative injections for natural cosmetic enhancement as alternatives to surgeries and other invasive procedures.

There is some mild to moderate discomfort during the procedure with some tenderness to the area for about 24-48 hours afterward. The area is treated with a numbing agent prior to the procedure which does minimize the injection sensation significantly.

We typically recommend 3-6 treatments depending on the nature and degree of hair loss. The longer the hair thinning has been taking place, typically the more sessions it will take to obtain optimal results. The goal of this treatment/procedures is to initiate a regenerative response, which is the reason best results typically aren’t seen for about 12-16 weeks post treatment. It’s essential to give your body time to regenerate and promote new cell formation and growth.

Cool off without a beer. Don’t eat carbohydrates for at least an hour after exercise. This will force your body to break down body fat, rather than using the food you ingest. Stick to fruit and fluids during that hour, but avoid beer.

  • Both men and women often benefit from scalp injections using Platelet Rich Plasma.

  • Anyone experiencing hair loss is essentially a good candidate for PRP treatments, but those with early hair loss tend to respond best; particularly in patients with “androgenic alopecia,” which is a genetically determined type of hair thinning that typically occurs along the top of the head both in men and women.

  • If your hair is thinning or you have some areas that have thinned out over the years, you would likely benefit from the PRP treatment. This injection technique supplies nutrients from the plasma and platelets that we have extracted from the whole blood and then utilized for their rich supply of growth factors and cytokines which are secreted by certain cells of the immune system and have an effect on other cells, inducing new cells to form encouraging cellular turnover and new growth!

  • If you have an autoimmune or other chronic condition that needs to be addressed as an underlying cause of your hair loss, PRP is most likely not a good solution. It’s important to look at the body as a whole and address the triggers, viruses, or other abnormal lab values before using any kind of cosmetic treatment to cover up a symptom such as hair loss.

  • Men with extreme male pattern baldness. If you’ve been bald for many years and there is no evidence of new growth in those areas, it’s likely the hair follicles are no longer living and will not respond to the nutrients and growth factors from the PRP substance.

For best results, consistency is key. Treatments are typically performed once a month for the first three months, then every three to six months thereafter, depending on the individual patient’s response and desired results. Following this protocol, you can anticipate results as early as eight weeks from treatment.

Avoid Processed Junk Food (Eat Real Food Instead). All the processed junk foods in the diet are the biggest reason the world is fatter and sicker than ever before. These foods have been engineered to be "hyper-rewarding," so they trick our brains into eating more than we need, even leading to addiction in some people. They are also low in fiber, protein and micronutrients (empty calories), but high in unhealthy ingredients like added sugar and refined grains.
